Food and beverage processing equipment can accumulate mineral scale, limescale and other inorganic deposits over time.
These deposits can affect cleaning efficiency, equipment condition and the performance of production systems. An acid cleaning stage can therefore be an important part of a properly designed CIP programme.
ACIPDET provides an acid-based cleaning solution using phosphoric and nitric acids, formulated specifically for suitable food and beverage cleaning applications.
It is particularly suited to applications where scale and rust removal are important cleaning objectives.
Effective CIP cleaning depends on controlling the key parameters of the cleaning process.
These include:
ACIPDET should form part of a properly documented and validated cleaning procedure appropriate to the individual food-production process.

The specifications above are taken from the current ACIPDET product information published by SOS Hygiene.
A Product Data Sheet (PDS) can be downloaded and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) are available on request.
The SDS should be read before use. Appropriate PPE, chemical storage, handling and dosing procedures should be followed in accordance with the product documentation and your site's chemical risk assessment.
Because ACIPDET contains significant concentrations of phosphoric and nitric acids, appropriate precautions are essential when storing, handling, diluting and using the product.
Acid detergents are not necessarily compatible with every material used in food-processing equipment.
Before introducing ACIPDET into an existing CIP or washing system, confirm compatibility with:
Where material compatibility is uncertain, contact SOS Hygiene before use and consult the current technical documentation.

ACIPDET is designed for use in Clean In Place systems, providing an acid-cleaning stage for suitable food and beverage production equipment.
For CIP applications, the published guidance specifies:
0.5–2% v/v at temperatures from ambient up to 90°C.
The appropriate concentration, temperature and circulation/contact time should be established according to the equipment, contamination, cleaning system and validated site procedure.
One of the principal applications for ACIPDET is the removal of scale and mineral deposits from suitable food-processing equipment.
For typical descaling applications, the published guidance specifies:
1–2% v/v for 20 minutes.
Acid cleaning can be particularly valuable where mineral deposits have accumulated on equipment surfaces or within suitable CIP circuits.
ACIPDET can also be used for appropriate derusting applications.
The published product guidance specifies:
1–10% v/v at 80°C for 30 minutes.
The suitability of this treatment should be assessed for the particular equipment and material before use.
ACIPDET can be considered for acid-cleaning applications across a wide range of food and beverage manufacturing environments, including:
The product should only be used on equipment and materials confirmed as compatible with the acid formulation.
In addition to CIP cleaning, ACIPDET is suitable for appropriate tray-washing applications where acid cleaning is required.
It can be considered where reusable food-production trays require treatment to address mineral deposits or other suitable inorganic contamination.
The correct concentration, temperature, contact time and rinsing procedure should be established for the particular tray material and washing system.
ACIPDET contains a combination of 10% phosphoric acid and 15% nitric acid.
This acid combination provides a formulation designed for demanding acid-cleaning applications, particularly where scale and rust removal are required.
The product should be handled as an industrial acid cleaning chemical and used in accordance with the manufacturer's Product Data Sheet, Safety Data Sheet and site chemical-handling procedures.
ACIPDET is formulated to be non-foaming, making it suitable for CIP applications where foam generation can interfere with solution circulation and process control.
Controlled foam characteristics can be particularly beneficial in:
